DVD & VIDEO REVIEW: The Dukes of Hazzard, Warner, 1133 minutes, PG, TV series, season two, 1979 **?

As a movie version of goings-on in the fictional Hazzard County hits the big screen, this series from the 1970s and '80s - which was in turn inspired by a 1974 feature - gets a DVD outing: five discs covering 23 episodes. Hicksploitation, Southern discomfort, call it what you will, the show cheerfully packages and recycles its essential ingredients: car chases, family traditions, well-intentioned cousins perpetually forced to clear their names, corrupt cops, CB radio, a Dodge Charger and Catherine Bach in denim shorts. Season two contains significantly more episodes than season one, although the DVD extras lack something the first season supplied - a commentary track (on a single episode) from stars Bach and John Schneider.

DVD extras include: screen tests, featurettes.
